17-Year-Old Caught Bringing Drugs, Paraphernalia Into Somerset County Court House
The Somerset County minor was detained at the Court House when Police discovered drugs and paraphernalia in his backpack.

A 17-year-old Somerset County minor has been charged with possession of drugs and paraphernalia after he was caught entering the Somerset County Court Office with the illegal items in his backpack.
Somerset County Sheriff Frank Provenzano stated Tuesday that the 17-year-old Bound Brook resident was detained on Jan. 13 after he entered the Somerset County Courthouse to meet with his probation officer.
“As he passed his property through the X-ray screening device, a Sheriff’s Officer observed on the monitor what appeared to be a pipe in his backpack,” Provenzano stated.

A Sheriff’s Officer investigated the contents of the bag, and recouped a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), paraphernalia and suspected marijuana from the backpack, Provenzano stated. The juvenile was detained and his parents were contacted.

The Sheriff’s Officer charged the juvenile with possession of CDS paraphernalia and CDS and later released him on his own recognizance awaiting a court hearing.
