51 Deer, 28 Fetuses Killed In Watchung Hunt

The 2018-19 season killed 10 more deer and 16 fewer fetuses than the 2017-18 season in Watchung.

WATCHUNG, NJ —A total of 51 deer and 28 fetuses were killed during the Watchung Borough's hunt that ran from November 2018 through Feb. 1, 2019.

A breakdown of the deer killed for the 2018-2019 season:

Fetuses indicate if any of the deer were pregnant at the time of the kill. Most deer carry multiple fetuses, according to the borough.

The 2018-19 season killed 10 more deer and 16 fewer fetuses than the 2017-18 season. The 2017-18 season had a total of 41 total deer and 44 fetuses.

The hunt included controlled hunting via firearm by Warren Blue Ridge Sportsmen, Inc. on three tracts of municipal land, and also on three tracts of privately owned land from, as permitted by State regulations.
