Apply by Oct. 7 for STEM Program
The program is open to Somerset County girls in grades seven and eight.

There’s still time for girls in grades seven and eight to apply for the Somerset County Commission on the Status of Women’s third annual STEM program.
The free event is open to Somerset County residents only and is limited to 90 girls. Pre-registration is required. Apply by Oct. 7 by completing and emailing the application form at www.co.somerset.nj.us/STEM to SCCSWomen@gmail.com
The STEM program will be held Saturday, Oct. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Somerset County Vocational & Technical High School on Vogt Drive, Bridgewater. Lunch will be provided. The day also will include science games and prizes.

The program is specifically designed to encourage seventh- and eighth-grade girls to prepare for future success in science, technology, engineering and math fields. Program sponsors include ExxonMobil, RWJBarnabas Health and the Somerset County Library System.
There will be three interactive areas for learning about science and engineering while developing valuable teambuilding skills. There also will be a panel of successful STEM women to provide insights, answer questions and discuss possible mentoring opportunities.

The Commission on the Status of Women serves as an advisory board to the Board of Chosen Freeholders to address present and potential needs of women and to develop a greater public awareness of women’s issues. Email SCCSWomen@gmail.com with any questions about the STEM program.
