Construction Begins At New Wawa Replacing Fabricland

The 24-hour convenience store and gas station announced a proposed opening timeline on Route 22 in North Plainfield.

NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ — Construction has begun at Wawa's newest location on Route 22 West in North Plainfield and a targeted opening timeline has been announced.

The 24-hour Wawa convenience store and gas station is replacing the iconic and long-standing Fabricland building, which has sat at the 869 Route 22 West location for 55 years.

Demolition of the former 21,000 square foot building began last week. The new Wawa location is located across the highway and near the newly built QuickChek, which opened this past November.

Fabricland has since relocated to 270 Route 22 West in Greenbrook.
