Green Brook Enacts Curfew On Mischief Night And Halloween

Kids 18 and younger won't be allowed out between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. both days unless they are accompanied by an adult.

GREEN BROOK, NJ — The township has established a curfew for kids on Oct. 30, mischief night, and Halloween.

No juvenile younger than 18 will be allowed out in public between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. either day, police announced.

Kids may only be out during those times if they are:

  • Accompanied by a parent or guardian
  • Running an errand related to a medical emergency
  • Attending an extracurricular, school-sponsored activity
  • Attending an event sponsored by a religious or community-based organization
  • Returning home from work

Parents are warned they will be in violation of the curfew if they allow kids to be out in public during curfew.

Police may detain any child who is violating curfew.

Parents, guardians, or kids found guilty of violating curfew could be fined up to $1,000 and sentenced to 90 days of community service.

More police officers will be on patrol those nights to help ensure everyone's safety.
