Green Brook Local Among Somerset County Photo Contest Winners
Ghanshyam Patel of Green Brook was among the winners in the 2016 Somerset County Board of Chosen Freeholders photo contest.

GREEN BROOK, NJ — Ghanshyam Patel of Green Brook was among the winners in the 2016 Somerset County Board of Chosen Freeholders photo contest.
“We want to thank everyone who entered this year’s contest,” said Freeholder Director Patricia Walsh. “The Freeholder Board enjoys seeing the beauty of Somerset County through the eyes of residents and employees, and we are honored to post these amazing photos on our website.”
Winning entries were selected in four categories: Architecture & Urban Design, Arts & Culture, Community and Natural Environment.

In the category of Architecture and Urban Design, first place was awarded to G. Murtha Vangala of Montgomery for a photo of Millpond Bridge. In second place was a photo of the historic Somerset County Courthouse, submitted by Ghanshyam Patel of Green Brook.
Winning entries in the category of Arts and Culture all showcase local fairs. Linda Klein of Hillsborough was awarded first place, while two county employees tied for second. The employees were Lisa Rothenburger of Readington and Annette Smutko of Bridgewater.

Local farms where captured in winning entries under the category of Community. First and second place were awarded to Michele Cooper of Bernards and Ron Catera of Hillsborough, respectively.
In the Natural Environment category, first place was awarded to “Reflections of the Sourlands,” submitted by Gary Wiesner of Hillsborough. A photo that showcases birds sitting in a snow-encrusted tree, submitted by John Annunziato of Bernardsville, was awarded second place.
