Memorial Day Gas Prices Climb: Use Patch Tool To Find Cheap Gas
Prices at the pump are climbing across the country.

Memorial Day is the unofficial start to the summer season and with summer comes higher prices at the pump.
In it’s weekly report, the American Automobile Association (AAA) said the national average for gasoline was $2.73 and consumers are paying more than five cents more per gallon than one week ago. Though the national average is climbing, the price motorists are paying at the pump right now is still nearly a dollar cheaper than one year ago, making it the lowest average for this date since 2009, the report said.
New Jersey drivers are paying more than 20 cents below the national average, at $2.52 per gallon for regular gasoline, up 18 cents from one month ago. Despite the recent surge in gasoline prices, New Jersey drivers are still paying 97 cents less than what they paid one year ago.

“Pump prices have moved higher nationwide in recent months, largely due to the global rally in crude prices,” the report said. “While consumers in every state and Washington, D.C. have felt the impact of more expensive crude oil, gas prices in several regions have seen more dramatic increases due to refinery problems.”
AAA said the global oil market remains oversupplied, but could be impacted by the volatility in the Middle East. At the close of formal trading on May 18, the cost per barrel settled at $59.69.
