Most County Employees Live Here, Too

A large portion of Somerset County employees live here too, and a good portion of Somerset County residents work within the county, according to information from the Somerset County Business Partnership.

The partnership released the information as of 2009 concerning where people live and work throughout New Jersey.

As for where employees live, a total of 28.3 percent of those working in Somerset County also live here.

The second highest number is actually categorized as all other locations, with 18.4 percent of employees not in any of the closest New Jersey counties.

A total of 17.3 percent of Somerset County employees live in Middlesex County, and 6.9 percent live in Morris County. A total of 6.8 percent live in Union County and 6.5 percent live in Hunterdon County.

The numbers get smaller and smaller after that, with 3.8 percent of workers living in Mercer County, 3.7 percent living in Monmouth County, 3.5 percent living in Essex County, 2.5 percent in Warren County and 2.4 percent in Bergen County.

As for where Somerset County residents work, a total of 31 percent work in the county, and 18.9 percent work in Middlesex County

From there, 10.8 percent work in other locations outside of New Jersey and New York City, and 8.2 percent work in Morris County. A total of 7.8 percent work in Union County.

From there, the rundown is 5.4 percent working in Mercer County, 5.3 percent working in Essex County, 4.3 percent working in New York City, 3.3 percent working in Bergen County, 2.6 percent working in Hunterdon County and 2.3 percent working in Hudson County.
