NJ's Only Rock Climbing Competition Comes to Sourland Mountain
The Fourth Annual Sourland Smackdown Bouldering compeition is returning to Hillsborough on April 16.

Hillsborough, NJ -- Adrenaline junkies and athletes can rejoice.
The Fourth Annual Sourland Smackdown Bouldering compeition is returning to Hillsborough on April 16.
New Jersey’s only organized outdoor bouldering (rock climbing) competition will be held at the Sourland Mountain Preserve at 9 a.m. at the parking lot off East Mountain Road.

Bouldering is a style of rock climbing undertaken without a rope and normally limited to very short climbs so that a fall will not result in injury," according to Somerset County Parks Commission. "It is typically practiced on large boulders or artificial man-made boulders, however it can also be practiced at the base of larger rock faces."
Prize donations and sponsorship are provided by Red Bull, Eastern Mountain Sports, REI, MoClimbing, and Access Fund.
