No Race, But Primary Elections Coming

The elections will be held Tuesday.

The primary elections will be held Tuesday for residents registered as Republicans and Democrats to vote for their choices to run in the November elections.

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Since none of the positions in the individual parties are contested, those who have registered to run in Watchung and Green Brook will be part of the November elections.

There will be no local race in this year’s primary in both Green Brook and Watchung.

In Green Brook, Republican incumbent committeeman Jerry Searfoss will be challenged by Democrat David Breen.

In Watchung, incumbent council members Dianna Beck-Cemens and Robert Gibbs will be running for the two Republican nominations. No Democrats filed for the primary.

The only contested elections in Somerset County, which include for freeholder and senate, is actually the governor’s race.

Running for the Republican nomination are Gov. Chris Christie and Seth Grossman.

Running for the Democratic nomination are Barbara Buono and Troy Webster.

Christie and Webster are supported by the Somerset County Republican and Democratic organizations, respectively.

Watchung

  • Districts 1, 4—Watchung Firemen’s Exempt Hall on Mountain Boulevard
  • Districts 2, 5—Valley View School
  • District 3—Bayberry School

Green Brook

  • Districts 1, 4, 6—Green Brook Middle School
  • Districts 2, 5—Firehouse #2 on Rock Road West
  • District 3—IEF Elementary School
