Police Accuse 2 Of Shoplifting From Home Depot And Kohl's

The man was arrested at Home Depot for shoplifting nearly $600 in merchandise Saturday afternoon, police said.

WATCHUNG, NJ —Two people were charged with shoplifting recently, Watchung police said.

German Amaya, 29, of Plainfield was charged with shoplifting after police said he stole $586 worth of merchandise from Home Depot, police said.

Amaya stole a chainsaw, blower, grout, and a painting kit, police said. He was issued a summons complaint and given a Watchung Municipal Court date.

A woman, Blanca Valenzuela, 41, of Plainfield was charged with shoplifting after she tried to leave the store with $290 worth of unpaid clothes in a bag from Kohl's, police said.

Valenzuela took clothes and went into a fitting room, police said. She then left the fitting room with a plastic Kohl's plastic bag and purchased a bag of shoes, police said. She then tried leaving the store, but store security guards stopped her in the vestibule and found the unpaid merchandise in the shopping bag, authorities said.
