Police Investigate North Plainfield Shooting

One person was found near a convenience store on Somerset Street with a gunshot wound early Wednesday morning: SCPO.

NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ — Authorities are investigating a shooting in North Plainfield that injured one person early Wednesday morning.

On July 17 at around 12:45 a.m., North Plainfield Police Officers were in the area of Somerset Street when they heard gunshots, Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson said.

A North Plainfield resident was found near a convenience store on Somerset Street with a gunshot wound. They were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, Robertson said.

Detectives from Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit responded, along with detectives from the North Plainfield Police Department are investigating.
