Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset Unveils Renovations to Maternity Unit at Community Open House on November 17

Renovations include updated accommodations and interactive features for maternity unit patients.

SOMERVILLE, N.J.,– Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset (RWJUH) has renovated its maternity unit to enhance the comfort and quality of care for patients and their families. The hospital will unveil these renovations to the public during a community open house on Thursday, November 17 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at 110 Rehill Ave., Somerville. Members of the community are invited to attend to tour the unit. Light refreshments will be available.

Renovations include updates to labor and delivery rooms, post-partum rooms, operating room and the nurses’ stations, including new furniture, flooring, paint and décor. All patient rooms will feature the GetWellNetwork®, an interactive patient education television system which offers access to the internet, email and videos about health-related topics during a patient’s stay in the hospital. The maternity unit remained open and fully operational during the renovation period.

Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset provides a wide-range of services for expectant mothers, newborns and their families, including counseling with Maternal-Fetal Medicine staff and a perinatologist, a comprehensive Diabetes Center offering pregnancy and post-partum counseling, a Family Practice Center, anesthesiology coverage dedicated to obstetrics, a Level II Intermediate Care Nursery staffed 24/7 by a board-certified neonatologist and specially trained nurses, a lactation consultant for inpatient and outpatient visits, post-partum and infant care classes offered during a patient’s stay so that they are ready for discharge, and childbirth education featuring a wide range of topics for parents, siblings and grandparents.
