Shoplifting Incidents Plague Watchung Businesses
Two people tried stealing more than $1,100 of merchandise from Home Depot.
WATCHUNG, NJ — Police are looking for several people are wanted in connection with shoplifting incidents that occurred recently.
One person, Saidy Bautista, 19, was arrested for shoplifting $203 worth of merchandise from Walmart, Cina said.
Bautista was served with a complaint to appear in Watchung Municipal Court Wednesday, the chief said.

- Two suspects tried leaving Home Depot with more than $1,100 worth of copper plumbing supplies before fleeing from store security Thursday, police said.
Police described the suspects as a 5-foot 9-inch black man wearing a black Jaguars hat, a black jacket, blue jeans, and green Nike sneakers, and a 5-foot 10-inch light-skinned black man wearing gray sweatpants, a New York Yankees jacket, and black and white sneakers.
The suspects left the area in a black, four-door Mitsubishi.

- Shop & Shop reported a shoplifter Dec. 29 who left the store with $522 worth of dog food and seafood. The person was described as an older black man wearing a black jacket, pants, and hat.
- Home Depot reported two shoplifters who stole fire alarms, fire extinguishers, and hoses worth $729. They left the store in a dark-colored Mercedes-Benz, police said.
Police described the suspects as two, 5-foot-10-inch black men, weighing 155 and 180 pounds, respectively. One was wearing a dark hat, a dark-hooded sweatshirt with white letters, black sweatpants, and white shoes.
The other suspect wore a dark jacket, black shirt, white pants, and dark shoes.
- Two people are wanted for shoplifting nearly $400 in merchandise from Old Navy Saturday.
The first person was described as a heavy-set black woman in her mid-20s. She wore jeans, a red top, and a scarf with pink and purple stripes. The second suspect was a black woman in her late 20s with a medium build, police said. She wore jeans, a navy blue shirt, and a dark blue vest.
- Police reported someone stole boots worth $160 Friday. Police described the suspect as a 50-year-old black man wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, green pants, and a gray hat.
Police are investigating all the incidents.
