Watchung 2019-2020 Schools Calendar
Here are all the important dates families need to know about for the coming school year.
WATCHUNG, NJ — The first bell on the 2019-2020 school year is about to ring and that means parents need to get their calendars in order. To help out, we've compiled a listing of important dates in the coming year:
- Sept. 5: First day of school
- Sept. 30: Rosh Hashanah, schools closed
- Oct. 9: Yom Kippur, schools closed
- Oct. 14 and 15: Staff in-service days, schools closed
- Nov. 4, 5, and 6: One-session days, parent conferences
- Nov. 7 and 8: New Jersey teachers convention, schools convention
- Nov. 27: One-session day
- Nov. 28 and 29: Schools closed, Thanksgiving break
- Dec. 20: One-session day
- Dec. 23-31: Winter recess, schools closed
- Jan. 1: New Year's Day, schools closed
- Jan. 20: Martin Luther King Jr. Day, schools closed
- Feb. 14: One-session day
- Feb. 17: Presidents Day, schools closed
- April 6 through 10: Spring recess, schools closed
- May 25: Memorial Day, schools closed
- June 22 and 23: One-session days and last two days for students
There are five emergency/snow days built into the calendar. In the event days need to be "made up," scheduled days off will be turned into required days from April 6 through 9.
