Martino, known for his years of experience in firefighting and his commitment to public safety, enjoys talking with residents in person. He explains, "People will have a chance to hear longer, more in-depth answers to the questions that were asked at the debate. They will also have the opportunity to ask questions about issues that didn't come up at the debate. Face to face is how I prefer to interact with Watchung residents."
Robinson believes that the informal setting will allow residents to feel more open to asking questions than they might have been at the debate and stated, “We will also be able to share the concerns that have been expressed by voters about the challenges facing our town. There has been a good deal of consistency among the people I’ve been speaking with, and it would be encouraging for those who attend to know they have a lot in common with their neighbors when it comes to borough issues. I hope everyone will leave feeling they can make a better-informed decision on election day.” She added, “We want to listen to Watchung residents and be guided by their input, and would use this event as a model for our future interactions if we are elected.”
Nina Leach, a volunteer for Robinson and Martino's campaign shared that "Wendy and Pete have been asking us since the start of the campaign to set up a Town Hall because they want to listen to and interact with residents face to face. The challenge we had was finding a suitable place in Watchung. There is no public meeting space that is large enough to accommodate as many voters as we expect for our Town Hall--which once again illustrates the need for community meeting space in our town and how a new multi-purpose library building would serve all residents."
Cupa Cafe is located at 60 Stirling Road, on the Watchung Circle in Watchung. For more information on the candidates, see www.RobinsonAndMartinoForWatchungCouncil.com
