The Watchung Parent Teacher Organization, PTO, announced plans today to host Food Truck Fridays, a creative outdoor dine-to-donate fundraising event, to support district students and their families in the Watchung school system. The PTO organization is commencing fundraising efforts prior to the opening of the school year to generate funds for COVID-19 hand-sanitizing stations, cleaning supplies, and contactless paper towel dispensers needed in September at Bayberry and Valley View schools. Everyone in the community is welcome to attend the PTO’s Food Truck Fridays in August by purchasing food from vendors to carry out.

Food Truck Fridays will operate on Fridays August 7, 14, 21, and 28th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm in the lower portion of the parking lot at Bayberry School located at 131 Bayberry Lane in Watchung, NJ. Each week, two dinner entree-based trucks alongside one dessert truck will be featured selling their local specialties to area residents. Trucks will donate a percentage of their proceeds from the evening back to the Watchung PTO. All food purchased will be solely for take-out purposes and participants are requested to wear masks and maintain social distancing while ordering. No dining will be permitted on school grounds. Vendors for week one, August 7th, will be announced shortly.
Dine-to-Donate has been an extremely popular fundraising method utilized by the PTO over the last several years providing a social connection for residents, a boost to area restaurant businesses, and funds for the school district.
