Watchung SEPAG Launches Sneaker Drive Fundraiser

The funraised, hosted by the Watchung Special Education Advisory Group, will run Aug. 1 through Nov.1.

The Watchung SEPAG: The Watchung SEPAG is holding an athletic shoe drive fundraiser beginning August 1, 2019 thru November 1 2019 to raise money to offset cost for programs and services for students of all needs. The Watchung SEPAG will earn funds based on the total quantity of pairs of gently worn, used and new sneakers collected. GotSneakers, a social enterprise, will issue funds in compensation for the collected sneakers. Those funds will benefit programs and services for parents and students of all needs. Anyone can help by simply donating gently worn, used and new sneakers at the Watchung Borough Hall 2nd fl Council Chambers starting August 1 st from 8am-4pm, Bayberry Elementary School and Valley View Middle School on September 5, 2019.

GotSneakers is a unique fundraising initiative that asks communities to reach into their closets, not their pockets! All donated sneakers are redistributed throughout the GotSneakers’ network of small business partners throughout Haiti, Nicaragua, Bolivia, and Ukraine. GotSneakers works with micro-entrepreneurs helping them create, maintain and grow small businesses in developing countries where economic opportunity and jobs are limited. Learn more about GotSneakers by visiting their website at www.gotsneakers.com. "We are excited about our sneaker drive," said Kelly Newsome, President. "We know that most people have extra sneakers in their closets they would like to donate rather than throw away. By doing so, we raise money for students, help the environment, and have the
chance to help individuals and families in developing countries who are in desperate need of economic opportunities. It's a win-win for everyone!” By donating gently worn, used and new sneakers to the Watchung SEPAG the sneakers will make a difference in people’s lives around the world and here at home.
