Watchung's ​Cinemark Theater Announces Proposed Opening Date

WATCHUNG, NJ — Cinemark Theater has announced a proposed opening date for its newest location in Watchung.

"It looks like April 18 is the date. As always, we like to stress that is a 'tentative' date… but we’re feeling pretty good about it," Cinemark spokesman Bryan Jeffries told Patch.

The luxury movie theater will be opening on the site at 1670 Route 22 East at Terrill Road in Watchung where the former Sears was located.

The Watchung location will be the second in New Jersey for Cinemark. Nearby locations include Hazlet and Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.

Cinemark Watchung and XD will feature several amenities including:

Luxury Loungers - plush, ergonomic over-sized heated recliners with cup holders and footrests. All auditoriums feature Luxury Lounger recliners.

Cinemark XD Auditorium - is the largest wall-to-wall screen at this theatre, which features a state-of-the-art projector and custom surround sound system.

Reserved Seating, Online Ticketing and Kiosk Ticketing - guests can reserve a seat in advance on cinemark.com or in the Cinemark app.

10 Auditoriums - the immersive screens offer digital projection systems with select auditoriums capable of RealD 3D.

Concession Stand - popcorn, soft drinks, candy and more.

Party Room - open for birthday parties or events and include a private screening of a movie.
