Massive Fire Destroys Apartment Building In West Windsor
Four firefighters were injured while battling the blaze at Avalon Princeton Junction Apartments. No other injuries were reported.

WEST WINDSOR, NJ — Four firefighters suffered minor injuries while battling a four-alarm blaze at the Avalon Princeton Junction apartments in West Windsor on Wednesday.
According to the West Windsor police, fire broke out around at 3.17 p.m., in building 8 at Taylor Court.
The West Windsor Police Department Patrol Division, Traffic Unit, and Detective Bureau were called on site.

No other injuries or fatalities were reported.
Authorities immediately began evacuation, while firefighters battled the blaze. The out-of-control fire quickly made its way to a fourth-alarm status while all 24 apartments were evacuated and the nearby apartment building also began evacuations.

While the blaze was being contained, the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office Arson Unit and West Windsor’s Detective Bureau continued investigating the fire’s origin.
The American Red Cross was activated to help families affected by the blaze. Police said all inquiries to assist the affected families should be made either through the Red Cross or AvalonBay Communities by emailing Charlene_lemoine@avalonbay.com.
Fire companies from Princeton, Lawrence Township, East Windsor, Plainsboro, Hamilton, Slackwood, Kingston, Prospect Heights, Mercer County and Monmouth Junction responded and helped battle the blaze.
West Windsor Police Chief Robert Garofalo thanked all the first responders. He also thanked the West Windsor community for the drone program.
“The drone's camera footage provided vantage points we would not have had. It provided the Incident Commander with critical information to assist in suppression efforts,” police said.
Based on preliminary findings, police said the fire was not suspicious. The investigation is currently ongoing.
