Montessori Country Day School in Plainsboro Holds Ladybug Release
Students recognized Earth Day by releasing 9,000 ladybugs in their school's garden
Students at Montessori Country Day School in Plainsboro have caught the environmental bug! On April 18, students celebrated Earth Day and taking care of the planet by releasing 9,000 ladybugs throughout the school garden and back into the environment on plants, flowers and trees. In addition to the ladybug release, students sang songs about recycling and taking care of Earth.
Leading up to Earth Day, students learned that ladybugs serve as a natural pesticide by feeding on insects that could otherwise harm the health of gardens, trees and shrubs. Montessori Country Day School teaches the importance of community and exploring nature at an early age.
