Car Strikes, Kills Pedestrian In The Oranges: Prosecutor
A car struck an Orange resident in East Orange. She died from her injuries, authorities said.
ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A car struck and killed a pedestrian in East Orange on Wednesday morning, authorities said.
Lucia Saint-Vil, 62, of Orange, was crossing the road at South Harrison Street and Central Avenue around 9:48 a.m. when a vehicle struck her, according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the East Orange Police Department.
Saint-Vil died from her injuries, prosecutors said.

The 71-year-old driver of the vehicle remained at the scene, authorities said.
“She is not being named at this time because she was not charged with a crime,” prosecutors stated Thursday. “However, she was given four tickets for careless driving, failing to stop to allow a pedestrian to cross in a marked crosswalk and two violations related to the tinted windows.”

A police investigation is ongoing, prosecutors said.
