Coffee With a Cop: Get to Know West Orange Police Officers

Officers from the West Orange Police Department will meet with local residents for a cup of coffee at Whole Foods to discuss concerns.

The West Orange Police Department is offering a new way for local residents to get in touch with local Police Officers. On Feb. 11, several West Orange Police Officers will meet with local residents for a cup of coffee to address concerns and questions in a casual atmosphere.

“No agenda or speeches, just a chance to ask questions, voice concerns, and get to know the officers in your neighborhood,” the Police Department states.

The next “Coffee With a Cop” will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Whole Foods, located at 235 Prospect Ave. in West Orange.

Winter Safety Tips

As freezing temperatures continue to wreak havoc for local residents, West Orange Police Department also offered the following winter safety tips.

  • It’s cold outside!! Do NOT start your car and leave it unattended while it warms up. Consider getting a remote starter.
  • Keep your car’s doors, windows and trunk locked and secured at all times.
  • Keep your valuables under the seat, your packages in the trunk so thieves will not be tempted to break in and steal them.
  • Activate your anti-theft device (clubs, alarms, etc.) it will deter thieves who will automatically seek out another car that is much easier to steal.
  • Park your car in a well-lit, well-traveled area.
  • Avoid parking next to large vehicles or any objects (dumpsters, large trees or shrubbery, etc.) that someone could easily hide behind.
