WEST ORANGE, NJ — When a coronavirus treatment finally makes its way to Essex County, West Orange will have one of four “vaccination centers” in the area, the town’s mayor says.

West Orange Mayor Robert Parisi shared the following message via social media on Wednesday:

“Thanks to the support of Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo Jr., West Orange will have one of the four county vaccination centers … full details will be coming soon.”

In his post, Parisi added that the vaccine center will be located at the now-closed K-Mart on Prospect Avenue. Many West Orange residents have since questioned what will take the beleaguered retail giant’s place.

DiVincenzo followed up with his own post about the plan on Thursday.

Last week, DiVincenzo announced that there are tentative plans to turn the old Sears store at the Livingston Mall into a "mega-vaccination center" for COVID-19. Sears announced that it was closing its store at the Livingston Mall earlier this year.
