Essex County Golfer Qualifies For PGA Pro Championship

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A golfer in Essex County was one of 312 PGA professionals to qualify for the 51st edition of the PGA Professional Championship, taking place from June 17 to 20 at Bayonet Black Horse in Seaside, California.

Joe Haggerty, the head golf professional at the Montclair Golf Club at Rock Spring in West Orange, was one of just 11 pros from New Jersey to participate in this year’s championship.

While competing on the pro tour is the primary source of income for many golfers, Haggerty also works a day job that consists of giving lessons, conducting golf shop operations, overseeing member responsibilities and executing player development programs.
