Fun And Government? Turtle Back Zoo Event Makes It Possible

Representatives from services across Essex County will distribute information to the public alongside carnival games, zoo animals and more.

Games, food, mini golf and a plethora of fascinating creatures aren't something you would ever see at your town hall meeting. If learning about your municipal government seemed boring before, there's hope.

The 12th Annual Essex County Open House is hitting the Turtle Back Zoo May 31, combining accessibility to the county government and its programs, and a carnival.

“Our Annual Open House has become a County tradition that our residents look forward to attending. Hosting this popular event at Turtle Back Zoo is a unique way to make County government more accessible and raise awareness about the many ways we contribute to our residents’ quality of life,” Essex County Executive Jospeh DiVincenzo said.

Representatives from services across the county will meet with the public to give information about the resources they offer and the directors employed there as well as respond to additional questions from patrons.

Admission to the zoo and rides on its mini train are free. Interested participants may call 973-621-4400 for more information.
