Local 15-Year-Old Hit By Car Outside Essex Green
The West Orange boy was taken to UMDNJ for a moderate head injury Saturday evening.

A 15-year-old West Orange boy was hospitalized Saturday evening after being hit by a car while crossing the street near Essex Green Shopping Center, authorities said.Â
According to the report, a 19-year-old Elmwood Park man was driving Ford Mustang about 30 mph around 5:30 p.m. on Prospect Avenue when the 15-year-old ran in front of the car near Guerino Drive.Â
The youth struck the car's windshield causing him to suffer a moderate head injury, Wiliams said.Â
The driver of the Mustang told police, he did not see the the youth, who was not in the crosswalk.
According to the report, the youth crossed about 15 feet from the Essex Green Plaza crosswalk. There was also no visible skid marks at the accident.
The youth was transported to University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark. The teen's condition current was unknown at the time of publication.Â
The accident is still under investigation and no summons have been issued
A second car at the accident told police the same details of the accident.Â
