McCartney Appointed Council President

West Orange Township Council elected Councilwoman Susan McCartney at Tuesday night's meeting to serve as president for the 2013-14 year.

McCartney has served three years as president since she was first elected to the council in 2002, she told Patch on Thursday.

Councilman Joe Krakoviak nominated himself but failed to receive a second to be considered, he said. 

Board, commission and committee appointments 

The following council members will act as liaisons to these boards, commissions and committees in town, according to the Alternative Press:

• Planning Board - Susan McCartney
• Local Assistance Board - Patty Spango
• Degnan House (ERSCHA) - Victor Cirilo
• Renna House (WOSCHA) - Patty Spango
• Insurance Fund Commission - Jerry Guarino and Victor Cirilo
• Downtown West Orange Alliance - Jerry Guarino
• West Orange Municipal Alliance Committee - Patty Spango
• West Orange Arts Council - Sue McCartney
• Open Space and Recreation Committee - Joe Krakoviak
