New Jersey’s Turtle Back Zoo To Hold 3rd Annual ‘Sleepover’ Event

It's your chance to spend a night exploring the zoo in the dark in New Jersey.

WEST ORANGE, NJ — It’s your chance to spend a night exploring the zoo in the dark in New Jersey.

On Saturday, June 9, the Essex County Turtle Back Zoo in West Orange will hold its 3rd annual “TBZ Sleepover” event from 5 p.m. until 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 10. (Learn more and purchase tickets here)

“Enjoy a wild night filled with adventure at the Turtle Back Zoo! Observe our animals in the dark, interact with our Educators and Keepers, and discover how our zoo works behind the scenes. Our third annual summer TBZ Sleepover program is fun for all families who’d like to spend a night exploring the zoo in the dark while learning about TBZ’s mission of conservation and stewardship.”

While ticket prices may be a little steep at $110 for the general public, the event includes a plethora of activities:

  • Carousel and Train Rides
  • Lesson/Activity with Animal Encounter
  • Tour of TBZ with Staff and Keepers
  • Evening Snack
  • Craft/Project
  • Free Overnight Parking
  • Secure Indoor Sleeping Area at the Berson Education Center
  • Breakfast
