Pair Busted with Pills, Heroin in Driveway Drug Deal, Police Say

West Orange police arrested a 41-year-old township resident and Orange man on Ashland Avenue earlier this week on alleged drug charges.

Following a brief surveillance, West Orange police broke up an alleged drug deal between a 41-year-old township man and an Orange man this week and recovered more than a dozen folds of heroin and prescription pills, officials said. 

Vincent Cicenia of West Orange, and Patrick Wilkins were arrested Monday at about 6:45 p.m. on drug charges on Ashland Avenue, West Orange police said.

According to police, Cicenia was talking on his cellphone and appeared to be suspiciously watching traffic and looking for someone.

Police set up surveillance and saw Cicenia wave a car into a driveway on Ashland Avenue. Police approached the car after Cicenia entered on the passenger's side door. 

According to the report, Cicenia was attempting to hide something in his sweatshirt and was asked to exit the car.

After searching Cicenia, police found a fold of heroin and cash, police said.

"I was only going to buy a bag," Cicenia told police.

When Wilkins exited the car and was searched, police found more than a dozen Oxycontin tablets and folds of heroin, officials said. 

Cicenia was charged with drug possession and was released on bail. Wilkins was charged with drug possession and distribution. He was transported to Essex County Jail in lieu of an undisclosed bail. 

Both men's court dates were also unknown.
