Lautenberg Lived 'Rich, Full Life,' West Orange Mayor Says

'He lived a rich, full life and certainly one that won't soon be forgotten,' West Orange Mayor Robert Parisi said about the late U.S. Sen. Frank R Lautenberg.

U.S. Sen. Frank R. Lautenberg, the last World War II veteran in the senate, died Monday morning.

"It obviously very sad that we lost Senator Lautenberg today," Mayor Robert Parisi said.

Lautenberg was the first senator he can remember, Parisi said, who was elected when Parisi was in high school.

"Though sad to see him passed and certainly pass suddenly, he lived a rich, full life and certainly one that won't soon be forgotten," Parisi said.

He added, Lautenberg's initiative, while working the department of transportation, to raise the drinking age will impact American families for generations.
