[UPDATE] Police: Student Found with BB Gun at High School
West Orange High School was on lockdown Friday afternoon for a report of a student with a firearm — turned out to be a prop from musical.

A high school student was taken into custody Friday afternoon after a report of a student in possession of a gun at West Orange High School, police said. However, it turned out the gun was a prop from the school musical.
According the high school administration, a student reported to one of the deans another student was in possession of what appeared to be a gun at about 12:30 p.m. on Friday.
The school immediately went into lockdown and security and police entered the classroom and questioned the student, principal Hayden Moore said.

Police searched the student and found a BB gun tucked into the waistband of his pants. The student was then taken into custody and the school was released from lockdown, police said.
An investigation revealed the student was involved in the school musical where toy gun props where used, according to the report.

The school confirmed the prop gun was used in the play, the report said.
