Police: Woman Robbed of Cell Phone on Valley Road

Police are searching for a man who allegedly mugged a West Orange woman and her young daughter on Valley Road Tuesday, officials said. 

According to police, the 35-year-old woman was on the corner of Valley Road and Cary Street, when she took out her iPhone to call her husband at about 5 p.m.

While she spoke on the phone, a man approached her from behind and grabbed her cell phone, she told police.

The woman wrestled with the man for control of the phone, but became scared for her daughter’s safety as well as her own and she let go of the phone, police said. 

The alleged mugger took off down Cary Street towards the city of Orange, police said.
