Race for the Cure, Free Comic Book Day and MS Art Reception Week Ahead

Check out what's going on in West Orange this week.

This week in West Orange the Board of Education and township have the week off for meetings but there is plenty to keep residents busy around town.

On Tuesday,  JCC Metrowest will host its Life Long Learning lectures with Professor Benjamin Nelson as the speaker. This week the American Jewish Novels being discussed are: Nicole Krauss'Great House, Michael Chabons The Yiddish Policeman's Union and Philip Roth's final novel, Nemesis.

On Wednesday, the Middle School will host an Art Reception at the West Orange Public Library at 6 p.m. The school encourages residents to stop in to check out the art or to support the young artist in your family.

This year’s 2013 Komen North Jersey Race for the Cure is set for this coming weekend at the Essex County South Mountain Recreation Complex.

More than 5,000 are expected at this year’s 2013 Komen North Jersey Race for the Cure. Race Day activities will include a 5K Chip-timed Race, a 5K Walk and a 1.5 mile fun walk, and a new Kid for the Cure Dash; Survivor Ceremony; a Kids for the Cure® area with lots of fun activities.

Also this weekend, the West Orange Public Library will host a free comic book day. Time Warp Comics will donate a variety of Gold sponsor comics. West Orange Library cardholders are welcome to come choose a copy of their favorite, while supplies last.
