Sheriff Offers $5K Reward for Armed Robbers

The five people allegedly beat and robbed New York man at gunpoint on May 4.

The Essex County Sheriff's Office posted a $5,000 cash reward Tuesday for information that leads to the arrest of the five men wanted in connection with an armed robbery in West Orange in early May, Sheriff Armando Fontoura announced. 

The men allegedly beat and robbed a New York man at gunpoint at the corner of Ridge and Watson avenues, near the border of Montclair and Orange, just after 10 p.m. on May 4.

The five men surrounded the New York man and one, wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, pulled a gun and demanded the New York man's money, township spokeswoman Jessica Glicker said.

The armed man pistol-whipped the New York man while the other four men beat and robbed him, police said. The robbers took $300 in cash, his wallet and cell phone, valued at $200, according to the police report. 

On Monday, West Orange police released images of the men they believe were involved.
