WEST ORANGE, NJ — When it comes to her new children’s education book, “ABC’s Of Child Sexual Abuse,” Gloria Bozor drew from personal experience.

As the West Orange resident puts it: “My story is somebody else’s survival kit.”

Bozor, a sociologist, case worker and safety advocate, is also a mother. And she hopes that her experience as a two-time survivor of child sexual abuse can ultimately empower a generation of young people to better protect themselves.

Bozor said the coronavirus pandemic has created additional risks for kids as they head online – a stance shared by state officials in New Jersey – which lends extra urgency to the situation.

“We can help make our community and environment safe for our children,” Bozor said, adding that kids should be empowered to use their voices and speak up for their rights.
