West Orange Election Results: Here's Who Won Council, BOE Seats

WEST ORANGE, NJ — The 2020 election results have been certified in West Orange, and according to the county clerk's office, Michelle Casalino, Tammy Williams and Bill Rutherford have emerged victorious for seats on the township council.

In the West Orange school board race, challenger Melinda Huerta beat out incumbent Ken Alper, according to Thursday's certified results from the Essex County Clerk's Office.

This year's general election took place mostly by mail-in ballots due to the coronavirus pandemic.

WEST ORANGE TOWN COUNCIL

In West Orange, five candidates matched up against incumbents Michelle Casalino and Jerry Guarino for three open seats on the township council. The challengers were Monica Perkowski, Bill Rutherford, Susan Scarpa, Brent Scott and Tammy Williams. Each term lasts for four years.

Here are the certified results, according to the Essex County Clerk’s Office:

• Michelle Casalino - 9,798
• Jerry Guarino - 6,757
• Monica Perkowski - 8,595
• Bill Rutherford - 8,953
• Susan Scarpa - 6,603
• Brent Scott - 4,884
• Tammy Williams - 9,277

WEST ORANGE SCHOOL BOARD

Ken Alper and Melinda Huerta competed for an open seat on the West Orange Board of Education. The term lasts for three years.

Here are the certified results, according to the Essex County Clerk’s Office:

• Ken Alper - 9,474
• Melinda Huerta – 10,865
