West Orange High Recognizes AP Scholars

Graduating classes of 2013 and 2014 were recognized for academic achievement in advance placement testing.

Last evening at the West Orange Library Media Center, Advanced Placements students from the graduating classes of 2013 and 2014 were recognized for academic achievement in advance placement testing.

A West Orange High School award of Outstanding Academic Performance was given to students who received a score of 5 on one or more AP exams.  Recognized were students who achieved rank of AP Scholar, granted to students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more exams. AP Scholars with Honor, granted to students who receive and average score of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. AP Scholars with Distinction, granted to students who receive and average score of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. National AP Scholars, granted to students in the United States who receive an average score of at least 4 on all AP exams taken and scores of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams. Student names were engraved on plaques of achievement to be located in the lobby of West Orange High School.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by AP Scholar, class of 2014 Dylan Pennell and the National Anthem was sung by Gabriella Rodriguez. West Orange High School Clarinet Sextet, WOHS Chamber Orchestra and a song from Shrek, reprieved by senior class thespians Chris Wold and Tyler Lynch, were performed during the event.

Speakers included Interim Superintendent James O’Neill, Principal Hayden Moore and Assistant Principal Annette Towson.
