West Orange HS Girls Tennis, Marching Mountaineers Notch Wins
West Orange High School got two big reasons to cheer, courtesy of the girls tennis team and the Marching Mountaineers band.

WEST ORANGE, NJ — West Orange High School recently got two big reasons to cheer, courtesy of the girls tennis team and the Marching Mountaineers band.
Last month, the West Orange High School Girls Tennis team was named Super Essex Conference Liberty Division champions following a 3-2 win over Mt. St. Dominic, school administrators reported.
Wins were earned by Nneka Arinzeh, Sophia Ruggiero and the team of Funke Oshodi and Johanna Jaeger.

In addition, junior Nneka Arinzeh was named this year's Essex County Singles Champion and placed in the top 32 players in the State of New Jersey.
“It has been a very successful season for West Orange Girls Tennis,” head coach Jeff Mazurek said.

MARCHING MOUNTAINEERS
On Oct. 26, the West Orange High School Marching Mountaineers capped off another stellar season by capturing the North Jersey School Music Association (NJSMA) Northern NJ Regional Championship at Verona High School.
According to a news release from school administrators, the band's performance of "Which Witch" garnered a score of 95.00, one of the highest end-of-season scores in West Orange High School history.
In addition to the AAA Regional Championship, the band took top awards for Best Overall Band, Best Overall Music, Best Overall Visual, Best Overall Percussion, and Best Overall Color Guard.
Band director Lew Kelly offered congratulations to the students.
"The marching band would like to thank all of the Music Boosters and the West Orange High School board and administration for all of their support," he said.
