West Orange HS Junior Selected to Attend U.S. Naval Academy

Dylan Pennell hopes to plan a career as an Navy officer.

A West Orange High School junior has been selected for the U.S. Naval Academy along with about 2,500 other students from across the country and abroad to attended the Naval Academy Summer Seminar program.

Dylan Pennell, who previously attended the prestigious U. S. Naval Academy STEM Program last June, is a petty officer second class with the Jersey City Division of the Naval Sea Cadets Corps. Pennel hopes to plan a career as an Navy officer. 

He also is high honors student, varsity cross country runner and wrestler, member and officer of many honor societies and clubs and a cantor at his church, Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament.

The summer seminar teaches prospective applicants about life at the Naval Academy, where academics, athletics, and professional training are key elements in developing our nation's leaders. Each student will attend a six-day session and experience a glimpse of USNA life.
