West Orange ‘Lunch And Learn’ Event At Turtle Back Zoo

A lunch and learn workshop for small business owners will take place at the zoo on Oct. 23.

The West Orange Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Essex County Office of Small Business Development and Affirmative Action, will host a lunch and learn workshop for small business owners from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at the Turtle Back Zoo in West Orange.

  • Joe N. DiVincenzo, Jr., Essex County Executive
  • Philip B. Alagia; Essex County Chief of Staff
  • Samuel S. Okparaeke, Director of the Essex County Office of Small Business and Affirmative Action
  • Kate Hartwyk, Deputy Director of County Parks Department

Al Alverez from the Greater Newark Enterprises Corporation (GNEC) will deliver a presentation about topics concerning small business owners, including how to access resources and capital, preparing for financing and other topics that will benefit small business owners in Essex County.

Apryl Caldwell a manager at the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act in Essex County One-Stop, will briefly describe the program and how your small business can benefit. The WIOA, is designed to help jobseekers access employment, education, training and supportive services to succeed in the labor market. By accessing a federally-funded program, your company could be reimbursed up to 50% of a new employees wages for a set training period.

Lunch will be provided and a tour of the zoo will be offered. Remember to bring appropriate footwear for walking long distances.

“The West Orange Chamber of Commerce is once again pleased to collaborate with the Essex County Office of Small Business Development to present this important workshop for our members and guests,” said WOCC president Sally Malech.

“This is an excellent opportunity for our small business members to discover various ways in which the County is facilitating and supporting small business. This program is one example of how the Chamber ardently works towards providing meaningful and valuable content that benefits small business owners. We look forward to a successful event that will move businesses forward in Essex County.”
