West Orange Police Help Feed Community In Time Of Need

"Giving back to the community. That is one of the aspects of what makes West Orange such a special place to live."

WEST ORANGE, NJ — The West Orange Police Department recently helped to feed the community in a time of need at a pair of distribution events in the township.

On Wednesday, the WOPD shared the following message on social media:

“Giving back to the community. That is one of the aspects of what makes West Orange such a special place to live. Our officers were especially grateful to spend another day assisting the WO Hispanic Foundation in providing food to needy families in our community. We also used this opportunity to hand out informational flyers on the dangers of COVID-19, masks and hand sanitizers to residents. We hope that everyone had a safe and healthy holiday weekend!”

“Charities like this would be go nowhere without the efforts of volunteers from throughout the township. Thanks to all who donated their time, their hearts or needed funds! A special shout out to the Holy Trinity Food Pantry for hosting this endeavor, and for being a beacon of hope for the community since the pandemic began! West Orange truly is STRONG and #wearewestorange.”

Patch has partnered with Feeding America to help raise awareness on behalf of the millions of Americans facing hunger. Feeding America, which supports 200 food banks across the country, estimates that in 2020, more than 54 million Americans will not have enough nutritious food to eat due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. This is a Patch social good project; Feeding America receives 100 percent of donations. Find out how you can donate in your community or find a food pantry near you.
