Bergen Director Screening Hit Film 'Patti Cake$' Locally
Written and directed by Hillsdale native Geremy Japster, the film follows a Jersey girl's dream of being a hip-hop star.
HILLSDALE, NJ — Geremy Jasper's hit indie film "Patti Cake$" will be screened locally later on this month.
Jasper's film chronicles one woman's quest for fame and glory as a hip-hop artist in "gritty" Lodi.
The Fox Searchlight film received two standing ovations at the Sundance Film Festival in January, including one for "breakout" star Danielle MacDonald as the title character of Patricia Dombroski.

“It’s probably about as autobiographical a story as I’m capable of telling,” Jasper told Indiewire.com.
Just about several character and location and detail in the film is based on the 18 months Jasper spent living in his parents' basement after graduating from college, Indiewire reported.
