Habitat For Humanity Raises Funds For Westwood Home

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — On Giving Tuesday, one local organization gave a big hand to Habitat for Humanity of Bergen County.

According to a release from the area Habitat, "an amazing supporter of Habitat Bergen" will be matching 100 percent of all donations received today.

All funds raised on Tuesday will go toward Habitat's current home build, a project at 95 Sand Rd. in Westwood, a three bedroom home built for a veteran family.

In addition to the Giving Tuesday donor, a local business also offered some aid to Habitat of Bergen this winter.

Robert J. Wilkens Insurance Agency, with offices in Bogota, Dumont, and Hawthorne joined Farmers of Salem's 'Earn More, Give Back' charitable incentive program.

The effort is an annual charitable drive with independent insurance agencies to raise awareness and provide donations for Habitat for Humanity.

Farmers of Salem donated $15 per policy to the local Habitat affiliate, according to a news release.

"Our agency has participated in this charitable cause for over six years to benefit the community, contributing an average $1,000 donation annually, for a total of over $7,000 to our local Habitat for Humanity affiliate in Bergen County. This activity demonstrates our and Farmers of Salem's support of this effort to provide affordable housing in the area," said John Wilkens, Agency Principal of Robert J. Wilkens Insurance Agency.
