Bergen 'Attack Coyote' Allegedly Had Rabies
The animal responsible for the attack on a Saddle River resident Monday was tested and proven to have rabies.

The coyote that attacked a Saddle River man Monday tested positive for rabies, according to a NorthJersey.com report.
Multiple reports said that the animal attacked the man from behind in his yard while he was working.
No rabies warnings had been issued recently in the Saddle River area, the report states.

John Zeug, 77, who had been taken to the hospital after the attack and is now being treated for rabies, is doing well, the report states.
It was the third coyote attack in New Jersey in the last seven months, NJ.com reports.

Coyote attacks are generally considered highly unusual and rare and rabies is one of the few logical explanations for the animal’s errant behavior, the report states.
