Victoria Csatay Starring in The Tap Dance Kid with Savion Glover

15 year old Victoria Csatay is starring in the revival of The Tap Dance Kid with Savion Glover. Victoria, who plays the role of Carole, is a sophomore at Pascack Valley Regional High School.

It is a dream role for Victoria as she is able to use her soulful voice and her tap dance expertise as well as her acting skills. Victoria said this has been a wonderful, challenging, eye-opening experience.

Channel 11 interviewed her about the show.

"We never know what's going to happen because he's so spontaneous and ideas just come to his mind out of nowhere and it's incredible he's an absolute genius," said Victoria Csatay. The 15-year-old plays Carole in the revival.

"He says that there is two types of tap dancing one for entertainment and the one that is more soul tap dancing to tap how you feel, not necessarily to please others," said Csatay. "I always learned the entertainment factor but now I'm learning more about incorporating more how I feel into how I tap."

Glover began his professional dance career at the age of 10 when he played Willie, a boy with dreams of becoming a dancer, in “The Tap Dance Kid.” Glover has performed in “Jelly’s Last Jam” and “Happy Feet.” He earned a Tony Award for his choreography in the musical “Bring in ‘Da Noise, Bring in ‘Da Funk.”

Glover traces his roots to Newark where he now owns the building in which he took his first tap classes.
Friday and Saturday’s performances are at 7 p.m. Sunday's performance is at 2 p.m. The community is invited to get tickets to the shows at the NJPAC box office.
