WeLoveU Foundation Donates 75 Chromebooks to Irvington Schools
Irvington Superintendent Dr. April Vauss and Mayor Tony Vauss Receive the Donation From WeLoveU's Closing the Homework Gap Program
On September 17, 2020, the Intl. WeLoveU Foundation East Coast Region (WeLoveU) delivered 75 Chromebooks to Irvington Public Schools. Superintendent Dr. April Vauss and Mayor Tony Vauss received the donation on behalf of the school district. This donation is part of WeLoveU’s Closing the Homework Gap program that identifies schools, districts, counties and states in need of computers and donates necessary equipment to facilitate distance learning. The Foundation’s program is also supporting school districts in Newark, NJ, and Hartford, CT.
“We, at Irvington Public Schools, want to thank the WeLoveU Foundation for their generous donation and commitment to closing the achievement and homework gap for the students of Irvington Public School,” said Dr. Vauss, superintendent of Irvington Public Schools. “On behalf of the Irvington Board of Education, I thank them for helping us to build our community, one student at a time.”
“On behalf of the Irvington community, we thank the WeLoveU Foundation for their philanthropic efforts in closing the digital divide here in Irvington,” said Mayor Tony Vauss. “Your efforts will have far reaching benefits and on behalf of the Irvington Municipal Council and myself, I thank you for your generosity and commitment to student success.”

“In bridging the digital divide, we are not just simply investing our time and efforts in the students’ 2020–2021 academic year but rather the academic future for them, their families and our communities,” said John Casas, WeLoveU’s vice president of community engagement.
An estimated 230,000 students in New Jersey’s public schools are challenged with a learning curve that is out of their control: the homework gap — the inability to learn, complete assignments and do homework due to limited access to technology. In an effort to facilitate distance learning, the WeLoveU Foundation will be donating Chromebooks to school districts unable to provide all students with these essential resources.
The Intl. WeLoveU Foundation has made a firm commitment to improve the quality of life through six initiatives: Blood Drives, Education, Emergency Relief, Environmental Protection, International Aid and Social Welfare. Its core values revolve around promoting unity and friendship among all people of the global village — beyond nationality, race, religion and socioeconomic status — through impactful volunteerism carried out with the heart of a mother.
