Westwood Alum Is An NCAA Woman Of The Year Nominee
Univeristy of Richmond basketball player Jaide Hinds-Clarke has been nominated for the 2020 NCAA Woman of the Year award.
RICHMOND, VA — Westwood Regional High School alumna, and University of Richmond women's basketball player Jaide Hinds-Clarke is nominated for the 2020 NCAA Woman of the Year award.
The award honors academic and athletic achievements, as well as community service and leadership of graduating college athletes from all three NCAA levels.
On the court, Hinds-Clarke finished what by all accounts would be considered a successful career at Richmond.

This past season, Hinds-Clarke named to the A-10 All-Conference third team after leading the Spiders in scoring, and finished her career with the 17th most points, 10th most rebounds, sixth most blocks in school history.
Hinds-Clarke was awarded the Dr. Leonard S. Goldberg Award for Good Citizenship and the James A. Sartain Award from the university.

Additionally, she has been recognized for her activism both on and off campus. According to a news release from the women's basketball program, Hinds-Clarke founded Shades of Pride, an affinity group for LGBTQ students of color at the university.
She received a Jones Impact Award for Black Excellence, a CCE Service for Change Award and a Diversity Richmond Black & Bold Award for leadership, for these efforts.
Hinds-Clarke will begin graduate studies at Virginia Commonwealth University in the fall, where she will study Sports Leadership. She will also intern with the University of Richmond athletic department.
