4 Woodbridge Schools Go Remote After 36 COVID Cases In District
The 36 COVID cases range among teachers and students, some of whom have been totally virtual, said superintendent Zega.
WOODBRIDGE, NJ — Four Woodbridge public schools have gone fully remote due to COVID outbreaks in those schools, said superintendent Dr. Robert Zega.
As of Thursday, there are 36 confirmed positive COVID cases in the Woodbridge district, and that number includes both staff and students, in-person and remote.
Woodbridge is one of New Jersey's largest public school districts.

Those schools are JFK High School, Pennsylvania Ave Elementary School #27, Mawbey St Elementary School #1, and Kennedy Park Elementary School #24.
Those four schools had to go fully remote due to either a high case number or lack of staffing due to quarantining, said Zega.

All other 21 Woodbridge schools are operating on a hybrid schedule.
Zega said he had to make this statement to the public after inaccurate rumors swirled.
"I even saw a news article today that had a false report about our district going fully-remote. The purpose of this message is to clear up any confusion," he said.
"If at any time we feel the need to switch back to Phase 1, fully remote, we will make that decision only after careful consideration of all factors," said Zega. "We know that if the number of cases in our community increases, the cases in our schools would increase proportionately. I hope this helps to reassure everyone that we are doing our very best to teach our students during this horrible pandemic."
