Abandoned Shipping Container Found In Carteret
An abandoned shipping container was found on a public street in an industrial part of Carteret Tuesday afternoon.
CARTERET, NJ — An abandoned shipping container was found on a public street in an industrial area of Carteret Tuesday afternoon, according to town spokesman Jon Salonis.
The Department of Environmental Protection (EPA) and the N.J. Environmental Protection Agency (DEP) were alerted and they are currently removing the container and examining its contents.
Salonis said he did not know what is inside, but "there are no leaks and there is no threat to public health."

"The operation will be active over the next few days until completed," he said.
